"I don’t know who from this specific agency text me today but they were unprofessional. I had requested a quote a while back but asked to be contacted via text. They kept calling me and I didn’t answer. So I stayed with my current insurance rep because we have a solid relationship and I like his team. However, a responsible financial decision is to shop around. They didn’t contact me today and I was amenable to the conversation. However, I started questioning if it was a phishing attempt because they asked me who was the driver for a claim in 2022. I haven’t had any vehicular accidents so that raised a red flag. I told them I didn’t want to move forward because their information didn’t align and because they didn’t respect my communication preferences. The 2022 claim was a road side assistance where they helped me change a tire. My current agent confirmed this should not impact my rates. However, these two reasons made me lose trust. However, the response was appalling. When she text me, I was at work and had been writing emails all day. While I am fully capable of code switching because I don’t always use my corporate vernacular, at that time, I was writing an email to an HR department who had questions. Their ego did not like it. One of my professional passions is Customer Experience. I gave the texter some tips. It resulted in an unprofessional reply accusing me of using ChatGPT. While I appreciate generative AI and believe it has a lot of benefits and use cases, I was not using it at the time. Nonetheless, if a customer decided to use it to improve the feedback loop (fyi for the texter - my BA is in Communication and I graduated with honors and also have a lot of experience in non verbal communication) there should be no resistance from this agent. Keep in mind I specifically requested a quote from this agent because their social media presence gave me a different perception of who they would be as an agent. Do with that what you will, but understand this professional relationship may come with deflection, tone policing, undermining, and even a failed attempt at a guilt trip. It is up to you how you use this feedback."
